The Department of National Defence

In Canada! DND scrambles to figure out how to mobilize and equip a citizens' army,  By Christinne Muschi/The Canadian Press. The Department of National Defence is scrambling to figure out how it will clothe, equip and train hundreds of thousands of new reservists, internal documents show.  They were envisioned as part of an ambitious mobilization proposal that the top military commander described as a work in progress. What's happening: The department has also established a key position dedicated solely to growing the military in the event of a major crisis.  The role has the simple task of delivering 100,000 reserve soldiers and another 300,000 citizen soldiers in a supplementary reserve, should the need arise.  That would be on top of a regular force of about 85,500. Why it matters: Gen. Jennie Carignan, chief of the defence staff and the country's top military commander, says they are working on an option to present to Ottawa, hopefully by spring.  The ...

We are on the edge of world war111

Part of this article is from MSN News.  Something that the people are not ready for is world war111.  This has been heating up for a while; there have been signs, but nothing that bad till Donald Trump became the president of the U.S. We are on the edge of world war111, and nobody can reverse the disaster that is about to happen with the Trump dictatorship. Pentagon report revealing China is readying missiles sparks WWIII fear, Chinese People's Liberation Army. A brand new report from the Pentagon has revealed that China has armed over 100 long-range nuclear missiles which could reach the US in an all-out war.  The December 23 report to Congress found China's military has placed more than 100 DF-31 missiles, which are powerful intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), into underground launch sites called silos.  These missiles use solid fuel, meaning they're ready to launch quickly without needing extra preparation, unlike older liquid-fueled ones that take ...

Antibacterial soaps are not more effective,

Health concern partial report by Alisha  McDarris Published Dec 23, 2025 10:00 AM EST Ditch the antibacterial soap this cold and flu season! The most dreaded time of year rolls around every winter like clockwork: cold and flu season.  The time when hand washing increases, sanitizing surfaces intensifies, and old and young schedule regular seasonal vaccines in an attempt to prevent sickness from descending on their households. But there’s one piece of ammunition you should absolutely skip this season—and all year-round—because it does more harm than good: antibacterial hand soap. While hand washing is vitally important to curb the spread of disease, soap advertised as antibacterial not only doesn’t protect you better from disease, but it has far-reaching and possibly harmful effects on your health and the environment. Here’s why to ditch it and use plain soap instead. How does soap even work? Regular soap can come in many forms: foaming liquid, bars, and gels. It is a little mo...

Trump is steering the US toward another Great Depression

With Trump trying to bring dictatorship to the country by causing a Crisis and Chaos, which he created, and making the people think that only he can fix it, he is heading in the direction that he believes in. The president loves playing with the power that he acquired when elected as the leader of the U.S.A. You have to remember, Trump doesn't give a crap about you or me, he knows he doesn't have long to live and wants to make a mark and name for himself, and to be remembered by the world foe being a great men and leader of a country, but we do not honor dictators in the U.S.A. so it's not easy to rule with an iron fist like Hitler of Germany. He is a dictator to the core and will stop at nothing to see things his way, not the people's way, even if it means starting a war with other Countries, and he is getting real close to that and bragging about how much power he has over other countries. But that power is not the president's.  That power belongs to the people of...

Blood pressure numbers to be concerned about!

Story by, Mie Hermansen. Blood pressure after 60: Why “120/80” might not be the right target anymore. As we age, changes occur that few of us can avoid, and your blood pressure is one of them. What was once considered a “perfect” reading in your 30s or 40s may not be ideal later in life.  In fact, trying to force your numbers to fit the 120/80 rule could do more harm than good. When the numbers shift; After the age of 60, blood vessels naturally lose some of their flexibility.  This makes it harder for the heart to pump blood efficiently, and as a result,  Blood pressure tends to rise slightly. According to the European Society of Cardiology, a healthy range for older adults is a systolic pressure between 130 and 139 mmHg and a diastolic pressure between 70 and 79 mmHg.  The key is not perfection, but stability. Maintaining consistent readings below 140/90 is generally considered safe for most active older adults without major health problems. On the other hand, bloo...

Science talk!

MSN with Startalk! My big question, always, has been: Is there an afterlife? This video explores how different cultures, philosophies, and scientific perspectives approach the question of an afterlife, presenting ideas thoughtfully without promoting a single conclusion.  That’s one of the oldest and most human questions there is. There’s no single answer that everyone can agree on, but here are the main ways people understand the idea of an afterlife: Religious and spiritual views Many religions teach that some part of us continues after death. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism speak of heaven, hell, or a world to come. Hinduism and Buddhism focus on reincarnation or rebirth, shaped by one’s actions. Indigenous and ancestral traditions often describe a spirit world where ancestors remain present and connected to the living. For believers, the afterlife is often about meaning, justice, reunion, or spiritual growth. Philosophical perspectives Philosophers have debated this for thou...

ChatGPT ruining our lives, but not in the way we think

That’s a sharp and thought-provoking question.  The obvious worry people raise about ChatGPT (and AI in general) is that it might replace jobs, spread misinformation, or make us “lazy thinkers.”  But there are subtler, less-talked-about ways it could be affecting our lives: 1. Eroding the “struggle” that shapes us. A lot of human growth comes from wrestling with problems, uncertainty, and even boredom.  If ChatGPT smooths over those moments instantly by giving quick answers, summarizing books, or even generating creative work, we may lose the deeper resilience and satisfaction that come from effort. 2. Shaping our inner voice. The more people consult ChatGPT for guidance, the more its “tone” can creep into how they think, write, or reason.  Subtly, our individuality and quirks of expression might get replaced with a more standardized, machine-influenced style of thought. 3. Undermining memory and deep learning. Because it’s so convenient to “just ask,” we risk skippi...

What is burnout?

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged or excessive stress, often related to work or caregiving.  It happens when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands.  Over time, this can lower productivity, drain your motivation, and even affect your health. Common signs of burnout: Constant fatigue and lack of energy,  Feeling detached, unmotivated, or cynical about work or responsibilities, difficulty concentrating or decreased performance, irritability or mood swings, trouble sleeping or changes in appetite, physical symptoms like headaches, stomach issues, or muscle pain,  How to prevent burnout: 1. Set boundaries: Learn to say no when your plate is full. Separate work from personal time (e.g., avoid emails late at night). 2. Prioritize rest and recovery: Get enough sleep consistently. Take regular breaks during the day. Schedule vacations or days off, even short ones. 3. Manage workload ef...

The Shocking Truth: Seniors Are 7X More Likely to Die From Choking Every 2 hours, a senior citizen dies from choking.  Here's what doctors don't tell you: After 65, your swallowing reflexes slow down by 40% Common medications (blood pressure, anxiety) cause dangerous dry mouth Dentures make proper chewing nearly impossible Parkinson's, stroke, and dementia multiply choking risk by 10X But here's the REAL killer: The Heimlich maneuver was de...

Criminalizes the seizure of oil tankers:

Like I've said before, Donald Trump's dictatorship will create a world 3 with revenge. Criminalizes the seizure of oil tankers: Venezuela rushes to criminalize tanker seizures after Trump threats. Story by Regina Garcia Cano. Venezuela’s National Assembly has approved a measure that criminalizes the seizure of oil tankers and cargo ships. The bill, introduced, debated and approved within two days, makes illegal a broad range of activities that can hinder navigation and commerce in the South American country. The legislation comes after U.S. forces seized two tankers carrying Venezuelan oil in international waters in recent weeks. The seizures are the latest strategy in the dictatorship of President Donald Trump's four-month pressure campaign on Venezuela's leader NicolΓ‘s Maduro. The tankers are part of what the Trump administration has said is a fleet Venezuela uses to evade U.S. economic sanctions. The unicameral assembly, which is controlled by Venezuela's ruling...

Finally, TikTok has made sales arrangement, according to the rundown tech!

TIKTOK πŸ’ƒπŸ»  TikTok’s long saga ends with sale Image source: Ideogram / The Rundown The Rundown:  TikTok has officially  signed  a deal to sell its U.S. operations to Oracle, Silver Lake, and UAE-backed MGX, closing January 22 and ending years of legal limbo over the bipartisan ban. The details: Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX will each own 15% stakes, with ByteDance retaining 20% and another 30% held by affiliates of ByteDance investors. The new venture gets a majority-U.S. board, with user data stored locally in Oracle’s systems. The algorithm will also be retrained on U.S. data to keep feeds “free from outside manipulation.” Trump  signed  four executive orders total this year to delay the ban while negotiating, even as the White House launched its own TikTok account. Why it matters:  This ends years of legal limbo after a divest-or-ban order nearly killed the app. TikTok briefly went dark in January 2025 before Trump started brokering a deal. B...

Trying to keep up with the AI race 2!

Here is a partial copy of my Rundown newsletter on OPENAI latest news πŸ€‘   OpenAI eyes massive $830B valuation Image source: Ideogram / The Rundown The Rundown:  OpenAI is  negotiating  a funding round at an $830B valuation that would vault the ChatGPT maker into the ranks of tech’s mega-cap giants, according to the Wall Street Journal. The details: The round aims to raise up to $100B by Q1 2026, with SoftBank already committed for $30B. The funding push comes as OpenAI vows to spend trillions of dollars and signs massive cloud and data center deals across Japan, Europe, and the U.S. Timing’s dicey: public AI stocks are stumbling as bubble warnings get louder and skeptics say valuations have drifted far from actual earnings. OpenAI recently  declared  “code red” to counter Google’s moves, cranking up pressure to show that massive infrastructure spending will actually deliver. Why it matters:  This $100B would add a hefty amount to OpenAI’s coffe...
